Property Overview

Built on raised decking overlooking the Linyanti Marsh, this intimate Experience offers stunning views and many exhilarating ways to explore the area.

As the only water source in the dry months, the Linyanti Marsh is one of the most sought-after destinations in Northern Botswana, boasting a great diversity of game and a peaceful atmosphere. The area offers spectacular birding all year round and is best known for its large herds of elephants, buffalo, and zebra that gather near the river at the start of the winter months and only move back inland once the summer rains arrive. Lion, buffalo, sable, roan, leopard, and wild dog are frequent visitors to Linyanti, as is the elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo, and crocodile.

Area Overview

Tucked along the southern banks of the Linyanti River, where Botswana meets Namibia, the Linyanti Reserve offers one of Southern Africa’s most unique safari experiences. This private concession spans 482 square miles (1,250 square kilometers) of grasslands, riverine forests, and winding lagoons. Unlike its more frequented neighbors, Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta, Linyanti Reserve remains wonderfully secluded, ensuring close-up wildlife encounters in an off-the-beaten-track setting that feels exceptionally wild.

The Linyanti River provides a vital water source that draws wildlife from across northern Botswana. During the winter months, as Diamond Season sets in and seasonal waterholes recede, animals migrate to its banks in search of water and sustenance. By October, during Amber Season, the river is teeming with game, making the Linyanti Reserve a fantastic destination for exceptional year-round game viewing.

Linyanti is a wildlife-rich sanctuary, home to vast herds of elephants and buffalo. Lions, leopards, and wild dogs roam the area, while antelope species like kudu and impala are plentiful year-round. Giraffe, warthogs, and baboons add to the diversity, and smaller mammals like jackals and servals are often spotted. Birdlife thrives here too, with carmine bee-eaters, martial eagles, and wattled cranes among the highlights.

Property Overview

Set within the Okavango Delta’s community-run Khwai Concession, this beautiful Experience is tucked under the trees on the edge of the Khwai River. This river is all that separates the iconic Moremi Game Reserve and the concession, with hippos, elephants, and even lions crossing over from time to time. Watching these animals maneuver through the water is an exceptional experience for even the most travelled safari veterans.

During the day, guests can enjoy game drives, walking safaris, and mokoro safaris (water levels permitting) in search of Africa’s big attractions, including lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo, and giraffe. An additional virtue of this area is that guests can head out on night drives for an up-close, personal experience with some of Africa’s nocturnal and more elusive animals.

Khwai’s biggest drawcard is undoubtedly the plentiful and extraordinary wildlife - you’ll never be bored here! Adventure and relaxation are on offer as guests live out their ultimate safari experience, from setting off on a morning walking safari to enjoying a gin and tonic overlooking the Khwai River.

Area Overview

Named after the Khwai River, which forms the northern boundary of the Okavango Delta, the Concession serves as a vital water source for wildlife and local communities. All tourism income benefits the community, promoting economic empowerment and environmental conservation. During Amber Season and Diamond Season, the river draws large concentrations of wildlife, making it the ideal time for game viewing.

Khwai Community Concession is known for its large herds of elephants and buffalo. Lions are frequently spotted in the area, along with thriving leopard populations. Other wildlife includes lechwe antelopes, giraffes, wild dogs, hyenas, and migrating species like zebras and antelope. Khwai is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with a variety of species such as egrets, cranes, vultures, and eagles, often seen hunting catfish along the waterways.

For an authentic, community-driven safari experience, the Khwai Community Concession offers a fantastic opportunity to experience Botswana’s revered Okavango Delta.
